I go through phases when it comes to my ideal smoothie texture. I used to prefer ice cold smoothies that were so thick they were almost the consistency of ice cream. Now, I’m onto a new phase of high-liquid smoothies. I still like them nice a cold, but I use about half as much ice as I did before.
More recently, I’ve been enjoying what I call Banana Milk. I make it with a lot of liquid and blend it until there is no evidence of ice. It’s so good, I tell you. I add in a bit of cinnamon and sometimes a dash of vanilla too. It totally reminds me of horchata, but with a creamy banana flavor. 🙂
I use my Vitamix blender and it takes about 20 seconds to make! You can buy a new or refurbished Vitamix for a great discount on the Vitamix website here.

One of these days I’m going to use banana milk with one of my granola cereals: maple-walnut granola, nutty flax and raisin granola, coconut almond granola. It will be delicious.
For this recipe (and most other recipes on my blog), I use my reconditioned Vitamix Blender. Buy it refurbished/reconditioned and save money. It’s the best purchase I’ve ever made for my health!
*Be sure to use ripe bananas (leopard-print), otherwise it won’t be tasty-sweet. In addition to being less sweet, unripe fruit is difficult to digest and is not as nutrient-dense as ripe fruit.

2 c. Water
1 c. Ice
