Both of these sandwiches have been fail-proof for long hikes and camping trips. They hold up well on long trips, plus they’re tasty and nutritious.
Peanut-Butter-Banana:
When my husband and I went on our first camping trip together, all we brought for food was a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, bananas, and raisins. Being peanut butter and banana lovers, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I wouldn’t recommend eating solely PB-Banana sandwiches for days upon end, but we survived! 😉
We now bring a variety of food when we camp, but PBB Sammies are always included on the menu.
Super simple guys, and variations are welcome.
Let’s start with the basics:
*Whole Wheat Bread
*Peanut Butter (you can easily make your own- follow my plain pb or sweet pb recipes)
*Bananas
*Raisins (usually)
Add or substitute other ingredients– give it a little flare:
Apple, thin slices
Dates
Berries
Celery– I’m not crazy…
Cinnamon
Cocoa powder
Almond butter, Sunflower seed butter
Jelly/Jam
Maple Syrup drizzle
Chocolate sauce (recipe here)
